It is more than 50 per cent more than the 102 scheduled for last weekend, and about half more than the 100 going to auction next weekend.

The following weekend looks to be one of SA’s quietest in recent weeks, with just 39 booked to be auctioned.

Adelaide’s gearing up for a bumper auction weekend.

Of the 155 to be auctioned this weekend, 148 are from metro Adelaide, while the other seven are from regional SA.

Paralowie, the data shows, is our top auction suburb, with four auctions booked there across the weekend, ahead of Hawthorn, Kensington Park, Klemzig and Mawson Lakes, which each have three.

More than 150 homes are going under the hammer this weekend. Not these ones though. These ones are just models …

The most-viewed property in SA being auctioned this weekend is 24 Frederick St, Maylands, a four-bedroom 1900s stone-fronted villa complete with a sparkling in-ground pool.

It was the sixth most-viewed property going to auction this weekend in the nation.

Selling agent Taylor Bishop of Taarnby Real Estate said the property had attracted interest from far and wide.

“We started the campaign without an auction and then changed it to an auction because on the first weekend we got such huge interest – we had 62 through that first open, and that was a bit of a shock because we put an advertised price of $1.8m online, but with auction we’ve had to drop it to $1.7m to be consistent with that price guide.

“When you have that many people through and run out of brochures at the first open you tend to get a bit bullish with your strategy and that tells me auction is right for this property.

“It has attracted a lot of interest from investors from Melbourne and Sydney – some of whom will be bidding from afar – and also from downsizers because it’s under 600sqm and all on a single level, so it suits them perfectly.

“I should have at least six people bidding on the weekend.”

Mr Bishop said he was confident it would sell at auction and said he was seeing a lot of interest from interstate expats looking to move back across in the next couple of years.

“There’s a lot of confidence in the SA market now with us being virtually on par with Melbourne’s prices and a lot of that is down to premier Peter Malinauskas really putting Adelaide on the map through events like LIV Golf and so on,” he said.
