A Sydney home has captured attention after coming up for sale thanks to its unusual inclusions, from its paintings to a huge vault in the main bedroom.
The vault, adorned with golden trimmings, is shrouded in mystery.
The vendor was alleged to have revealed to the selling agent that the unusually large vault was for “personal use” and is included in the bedroom for “aesthetic reasons”.

The vault, which is included as part of the home, is the beginning of this home’s many unusual furnishings.
A series of portrait-style paintings – which do not come with the house – have also captured attention.
According to the vendor, the paintings were done by Assyrian-Australian artist Edward Hydo, who has his own intriguing backstory.
Hydo’s website states that he was the “personal artist for Saddam Hussein” and that from 1985-91 he painted over 500 large portraits for the then Iraqi president.

There are two homes on the same block, with the rear property having been partitioned by the owners into two ‘flats’.
The main residence includes four bedrooms and four bathrooms, while the rear dwelling has five bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Mr Khawam would not reveal a price guide for the multiple dwelling sale, but it is likely to be much higher than the Guildford median house price of $1.23m. An automated valuation of the larger house by Property.com.au, based on comparable sales in the area, estimated the value of that block alone could be about $2.3m.

The property has been used as a multigenerational home by the current owners.
Mr Khawam said the home’s layout and “upscale finishes” made it a rarity in Guildford.
“It’s like nothing I’ve seen in the area,” he said. “The owners have gone above and beyond with it.”
Mr Khawam said the double property, with the potential to divide into three dwellings, added to its value.

“It’s something that’s awesome for an investment or something to live in,” he said. “You would not ever think this would exist in the area.”
