2025 US Open Golf Schedule; TV Broadcast, and more

The 2025 US Open Golf schedule runs from June 12th through Sunday June 15th, 2025. The tournament takes place at Oakmont Country Club course in Oakmont, PA. 2025 US Open Golf Schedule

The 2025 US Open golf schedule kicks off on Thursday, June 12th for tournament play. The tournament is the third of four Major golf championships on the PGA Tour. The field is larger than we saw last month at the Masters. It is capped at 156 players. TV coverage for the event is delivered by USA Network for the early part of the first two rounds, and NBC covers the money times and lower scoring groups of players.

US Open Golf Background and Tickets

The U.S. Open is one of the most established golf tournaments in the game. The very first tournament was a one-day tournament held on a nine-hole course in Newport, Rhode Island. That took place on October 4th, 1895. Since then, it has become one of the four major Golf Tournaments. If you win, you get an automatic invite to the other Golf Majors. The youngest player to win the tourney was Jordan Spieth in 2015. 

US Open Golf Facts

• The first U.S. Open to be broadcast on TV was in 1954 on NBC. They showed an hour of the final round of play. 
• The tournament did not move to a four-day, 72 hole format until 1965. In 1898, it had shifted from 36 to 72 holes, but was played over two to three days. 
• Tiger Woods also has the record for the largest US Open winning margin of 15 strokes. He set this in 2000 at Pebble Beach finishing at 12 under par. 
• Amateurs with a handicap of 1.4 or lower can enter the U.S. Open. They have to make it to one of the 11 final qualifying events to earn a spot. 
• The first American U.S. Open winner did not occur until John McDermott won the 1912 US Open. The first 17 or so events were focused on British golf pros who were coming to the United States. 
• Tiger Woods is the only male golfer who has won the US Junior Amateur, the US Amateur and the US Open. He won each event three times.The US Junior in 1991, 1992 and 1993. The US Amateur in 1994, 1995 and 1996. He won the US Open in 2000, 2002 and 2008.
